He never knew his own name, let alone who his parents were. Before any memory he could recall, his mother was a refugee who tried to care for him, but died shortly after arriving in Ul'dah. Without a mother to guide him, he started following around a group of street urchins, surviving on what they tossed his way. They'd dubbed him 'Kitty', and he eventually joined them in stealing food and jewelry. As he got older, he shortened his name to 'Kiht' and, though he wasn't a member of a tribe, tacked on 'Tia' just so people would stop asking questions about his name.Eventually, Kiht decided he wanted to pick up a proper profession, so he turned to the Gladiator's Guild. He'd had always had a talent for fighting. He was small, quick, and nimble; able to dodge most strikes and harry his opponents with rapid slashes. With training, he was able to keep up with most other adventurers and combatants, though he found a shield usually slowed him down. In time, he'd registered himself as an adventurer and picked up as much work as possible, until he caught an auspicious eye...Kiht's efficiency on levequests garnered the attention of a collector of relics. It wasn't long before the man - known only to Kiht as The Captain - would have him going on missions to fetch artifacts and pieces of Allagan technology, often meeting with one of The Captain's associates if the mission took him near enough to make an easy meeting.While Kiht was paid well for the work, eventually he mustered up the courage to ask The Captain to look into his history, in hopes that he could find more information on his mother and possibly find out if his father was still alive. The Captain agreed and, over time, he made an excellent discovery; Kiht's mother was a miqo'te from Ala Mhigo who had fled after her Thavnairian hyur husband was killed in a conflict involving Garlean soldiers.Though he learned his father had likely died while he was still in the womb, he was given names. With that information, he connected with his materal grandmother in Gyr Albania and his paternal grandfather's caretaker in Thavnair. After meeting with him for some time, his grandmother gifted him her the pieces of her late husband's armor that she was able to keep, as well as his father's sword. Ever since, he has sent her part of his earnings to help her rebuild a life in Ala Mhigo after its liberation.
